Our goals
Annual reduction of our CO2 emissions per kg of product by 4.2%
We have calculated our climate-impacting emissions with independent external partners. We know that man-made global warming will continue if we do not act now. That is why we have set ourselves the goal of continuously reducingthe CO2 emissions caused by our company and the manufacture of our products (Scope 1 - 3) by 4.2% per kg of product per year.
In addition, as Kartoffelmanufaktur Pahmeyer GmbH & Co KG, we have set ourselves the goal of reducing our total emissions from Scope 1 + 2by 42% between 2022 and 2030.

Our way to the goal...
Our current conclusion: We started in 2020 and determined the corporate carbon footprint (CCF) for our company for the first time in 2019. Based on this data, we spent the following two years working intensively on the planning and preparation of reduction measures and their implementation within the company. In 2022, this enabled us to successfully switch from nitrogen-based to 100% green electricity-powered freezer systems in our production - a real success for us and for climate protection. In addition, our packaging development department was able to successfully reduce the weight of our plastic packaging. More on this under: "Our milestones".
Background: Why did our emissions intensity increase in 2020 and 2021? During the challenging coronavirus years, we saw increased sales of our convenience products for retailers (more packaging used and more energy consumed), while at the same time there was less demand for our bulk packaging for wholesalers. In the first three years after calculating our CCF, we were not yet able to achieve our annual reduction target. In 2022 and 2023, we were back on track thanks to the switch from nitrogen refrigeration to electric refrigeration and a reduction in the use of packaging and were able to record a lower emissions intensity in 2023 than in 2019.
Maintaining the high level of food safety & quality
We are voluntarily audited annually by an independent institute in accordance with the strict guidelines of the International Featured Standard (IFS). The IFS standard focuses on food and product safety, quality and hygiene. We are currently certified in accordance with IFS Food and are constantly working hard on our quality management system. Our aim is to continue to supply safe and high-quality products in the future and to be certified annually in accordance with the IFS standard. You can view the certificate under Downloads .

1x new vegan product per year
We currently offer a wide range of vegetarian and partly vegan products. Every year, our aim is either to convert an existing vegetarian recipe to a vegan variant or to launch a new vegan product on the market. By taking this step, we want to help minimize our environmental impact - for example on the climate - and further reduce our carbon footprint.
